Hypothecary Value

Loan value; COLLATERAL value; the value of securities or other collateral, e.g. notes, acceptances, etc., when placed on deposit with the lender as a pledge for the payment of a loan.  Good bonds may have a hypothecary value equal to from 75 to 90% of their market value on "nonpurpose" loans.
